The Foundation of Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) is pleased to announce that a limited number of tickets are available for the 15th Annual Faithful Lives Celebration on November 7, 2013.

Each year at Faithful Lives, the Foundation of SJRMC celebrates those that exemplify the spirit of the Gospel and service to others. This year, the event will honor the dedicated physicians and staff of Michiana Hematology Oncology, PC, the leading cancer treatment organization in northern Indiana for more than 45 years. The event will be chaired by Drs. Zoreen and Rafat Ansari.

"Our region is fortunate to have access to an outstanding group of physicians and staff that provides the very best in cancer care," said Albert L. Gutierrez, President and CEO of SJRMC.  "The longstanding partnership between SJRMC and Michiana Hematology Oncology enables us to offer a complete continuum of care for cancer patients in our community."

In 1968, medical oncologist Thomas Troeger, MD had a dream to advance the fight against cancer in northern Indiana. He opened a small cancer treatment center in South Bend. Dr. Troeger and partner Dr. Juan Garcia were soon joined by Dr. Rafat Ansari, and more than 40 years later this practice has grown into the largest network of cancer treatment centers in northern Indiana. Today, all the cutting-edge cancer services and care that a patient may need can be found under one roof at Michiana Hematology Oncology's Advanced Center for Cancer Care, a joint venture between Michiana Hematology Oncology and SJRMC. This state-of-the-art facility was designed by experts in cancer care who asked for input from real patients to ensure it would be a welcoming place that focused on treating the whole person.

The event November 7, 2013 will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, on the campus of Saint Mary's College. Funds will be used to assist patients who need but cannot afford diagnostic exams, as well as help to establish a survivorship program, to provide compassionate support for cancer survivors.
