In honor and remembrance of those currently serving and those who have served in our United States military, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) will host a Veteran's Day Celebration at its Mishawaka Campus at 11:00 am on Monday, November 11, 2013.
The greater Michiana community is invited to attend and honor our country's veterans. The program will consist of a welcome, the Pledge of Allegiance, a veteran's blessing, a prayer and guest speaker Ralph Bakle, Radioman 2nd Class, US Navy.
During his time in the Navy, Ralph was awarded the Purple Heart and was nominated for the Silver Star, the nation’s second highest medal for bravery and valor in combat, in addition to receiving many other honors. Today, Ralph resides in Mishawaka and continues to serve his country through his work as Post Quartermaster with VFM Post #1167, as Historian with VVA #1027 and his membership with the American Legion Post #303.
The ceremony will take place at the SJRMC World Trade Center Memorial, located in the main lobby of the hospital, right of the registration desk. Following the ceremony, a special Noon Mass will be held at the Our Lady of Fatima Chapel, also located in the main lobby of the hospital.
In the days leading up to the celebration, SJRMC employees are encouraged to share photos of their loved ones who are serving in the military on a poster board located in the Lake Side Dining Room.
