Eli Lilly & Company’s Oncology on Canvas is now on display through April 15 in the lobby of the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center Mishawaka Campus. The free exhibit showcases the art from the 2010 Lilly Oncology on Canvas: Expressions of a Cancer Journey art competition and exhibition.
Oncology on Canvas is a biennial art competition that invites people from the United States and Puerto Rico diagnosed with any type of cancer – as well as their families, friends, caregivers, and health care providers – to express, through art and narrative, the life-affirming changes that give their cancer journey meaning.
“To have this here at Saint Joseph’s Cancer Institute means so much to all of us and our patients,” said Marian Brown, Supervisor of the Cancer Registry. “This is a way for our patients to make that connection with those who have been down the same path. It also provides a lot of inspiration as some of our patients are at the beginning stages of a very trying journey.”
Oncology on Canvas is presented by Lilly Oncology in partnership with the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS), which advocates for quality cancer care for everyone and provides tools that empower people affected by cancer to advocate for themselves.
The exhibit will be at SJRMC in honor of April 11 – 15 being National Cancer Registrars Week, which is an annual celebration held to promote the quality cancer data management done by Cancer Registry professionals.
