Leading Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Michael Savitt, MD, Joins Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center 07/12/2012
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) is pleased to welcome Michael Savitt, MD, MSE, as head of cardiothoracic surgery.
Dr. Savitt, a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon, joins SJRMC with more than 15 years of service. He specializes in the surgical treatment of heart disease, including open heart surgery, bypass surgery, heart valve repair and replacement, surgeries for lung cancer and disorders of the chest area, as well as minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgeries including laparoscopic, da Vinci Robotic Surgery and muscle-sparing thoracatomy.

Dr. Savitt comes to SJRMC from Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center of Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he was surgical program director of the Lung Transplant division, and cardiothoracic surgeon of Aurora Medical Group. He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Duke University; completed surgical residencies at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of California, San Francisco; and completed a cardiothoracic surgical fellowship at The University of Minnesota.
An advanced researcher, prolific author and sought-after speaker, Dr. Savitt has written more than 40 published articles and abstracts on heart and lung diseases, diagnosis, treatment, surgery and transplantation.
