Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) is proud to release the results of its 2011–2012 Community Health Needs Assessment report.

Conducted every three years, through community surveys and focus groups, the assessment evaluates the overall health status of the greater Michiana region, identifies the most pressing health-related needs of the community, and helps SJRMC prioritize services relating to such needs. For the 2011-2012 assessment, more than 2,000 surveys were received and analyzed.

The findings of this year’s study highlighted three areas of significant concern by community participants: diabetes, pre-natal care and senior services. With this information in mind, SJRMC has developed a three-year community needs action plan to address ways to improve the health of the extended community by empowering people with information, knowledge and accessibility.

Highlighted through a matrix at the end of the 2011–2012 Community Health Needs Assessment report, the areas of concern are segmented by recognized needs, and further divided by future action plans as identified by SJRMC.

“At Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, we strive to fulfill every element of our Mission Statement through actions, not just words,” said Albert Gutierrez, president and chief executive officer of SJRMC. “We will seek to provide services where assistance is most needed. Our Mission and faith principles are at the core of our business—challenging us to do whatever it takes to build a stronger and healthier community.”
