2nd Annual President’s Brunch Brings Hockey Legend to Michiana
The Foundation of Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) will host guest speaker Jim Craig, 1980 Olympic Hockey Gold Medalist, during its second annual President’s Brunch on Sunday, April 28, 2013.
The Goalie for the “Miracle on Ice” Team, Jim has been called the backbone of a team that accomplished one of the most extraordinary and memorable sports victories of all time. An All-American goalie at Boston University and standout for their 1978 NCAA championship squad, Jim was selected as the starting goaltender for the U.S. 1980 Olympic hockey team. In the game against the Soviets, the Americans were outshot 42-16, but Jim made 39 saves, many of the spectacular variety, and his teammates scored four times.
When Jim retired from pro hockey, he pursued a career with the same passion and work ethic that he put forth on the ice. Jim is a national and international motivational speaker, spokesperson and master storyteller. He is president of Gold Medal Strategies. Over the past 25 years, Jim has inspired, instructed, and provided strategic direction for more than 300 top-tier organizations.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit SJRMC’s Pediatrics, Pediatric Therapy, Pediatric Specialty Clinics and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. These programs provide expert care to pediatric patients in our community. Through our affiliation with Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent, we continue to enhance and expand the services we offer local families.
