It's not always clear whether an injury or illness calls for a trip to the Emergency Department. Some symptoms you should not ignore include:
- Chest Pain
- Difficulty Breathing
- Blacking Out/Weakness
- Slurred Speech
- Changes in Vision
- Changes in Mental Status
- Sudden/Severe Pain
- Uncontrollable Bleeding
- Coughing/Vomiting Blood
- Suicidal Feelings
Our ER is always open and ready to provide care. Understand, however, that a trip to the ER usually takes longer and costs more than a visit to a doctor's office. After-Care Instructions
When you're ready to leave the Emergency Department, you'll be given after-care instructions either in your treatment room or in the discharge room. These instructions will include your ER physician's name, the name of the doctor you should see for follow-up care, your diagnosis and specific recommendations.
ED charges are based on the seriousness of your condition and the amount of time spent providing your care. You'll be asked to sign a financial agreement at discharge. Other physicians involved in your care, such as the radiologist who reads your X-ray, will send you separate bills for their work. For more information on billing click here.
