Ways to Give
The Foundation
“Guiding gifts of hope”
We couldn’t begin to do what we do without generous support from volunteers and financial gifts from individuals, businesses and grant-making foundations. The Foundation of Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center coordinates this outpouring of charity and directs it to programs or services such as these:
Sister Maura Brannick Health Center on Chapin Street
This comprehensive facility provides important healthcare services for the less fortunate in St. Joseph County, including the working poor, those without insurance and people who may slip through the cracks. To learn more, e-mail thefoundation@sjrmc.com or call (574) 232-4070.
The Pediatric Specialty Clinics
This service encompasses several programs addressing aspects of growth and development in infants, children, teens and young adults. Many clinics are done in collaboration with physicians or specialists from Riley’s Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis. To learn more, e-mail thefoundation@sjrmc.com or call (574) 239-6126.

Mobile Medical Unit
The Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) is a 40-foot-long clinic on wheels. It will be staffed by a coordinator, nurse, sonographer (the person who does mammograms) and driver. In conjunction with Saint Joseph outreach services, there will be a medical director, staff assistant, benefits assistance representative, community outreach screener and education representatives.
The MMU will bring healthcare to our communities, expanding access in both urban and rural areas and helping us to meet the needs of at-risk individuals who lack transportation or adequate access to medical offices or clinics. It will also deliver corporate wellness to local businesses, providing health education and screenings on-site.
Women’s Task Force
The Women’s Task Force was founded in September 2001 by women cancer survivors and has already made a significant mark on the community. The 23-member Task Force, led by Joan Lennon, a breast cancer survivor, is made up of women who have overcome breast, ovarian, colon, stomach and lung cancer and also melanoma and lymphoma.
The task force is dedicated to increasing education and awareness about cancer, cancer prevention and cancer screenings to the regional community served by Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. They are responsible for the Secret Sister Society Style Show which raises money to provide mammograms to women who can’t afford them. Also, they hold the annual Pap-A-Thon which is a one-day, 12-hour cervical cancer education and screening day for women.
Multi-cultural access
This program assists the Hispanic community by providing important interpretation and translation services at the South Bend facility. To learn more, e-mail thefoundation@sjrmc.com or call (574) 237-7989.
