Going Home

Going home after surgeryIn our Post-Op unit, you may have to meet certain criteria before being discharged home, which include:

  • Stable vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate, temperature and pain level).
  • Tolerating food and drink, which is very important because you may need to take oral medications for pain or to prevent infection.
  • You should be able to empty your bladder.
  • You should be able to walk by yourself.

Before you go home, your Post-Op nurse will review your discharge instructions with you and your responsible party to make sure they are clearly understood. Please feel free to ask your Post-Op nurse any questions regarding your discharge instructions or home care so you and your responsible party feel comfortable after discharge.

From our family to yours, we hope your stay with us will meet your expectations. If at any point during your stay you are dissatisfied, please let our team know. Our Surgical Director can be reached at 574-335-2496.
