 The Garcia Family Foundation Oncology Unit on the sixth floor of the Mishawaka Campus is specially designed to create a soothing environment for patients battling cancer.
We use a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care. The team of experts includes:
- Nurses
- Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist
- Oncologists & Physicians who specialize in cancer treatment
- Case Manager
- Chaplain
- Clinical Dietician
- Oncology Pharmacist
- Physical, Occupational & Speech Therapists
Our nurses attend an Oncology Nursing Society chemotherapy/biotherapy provider course in order to administer these medications to our patients. This course is nationally recognized and provides a comprehensive overview of the knowledge needed to administer chemotherapy/biotherapy agents.
This Unit also includes a large Hospice Room to accommodate patients with special needs or a longer length of stay. Our goal is to provide excellent care effectively manage cancer, its treatments and its side effects to allow the patient the highest quality of life.
