MTB Construction Team Raises Over $5,000 for SJRMC Health Center

If you can swing a hammer, you can swing a golf club!

That was the approach members of Mortenson Tonn & Blank (MTB), overseers of the construction of the new Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, took earlier in August at Blackthorn Golf Course in South Bend. Associates of the hospital joined MTB for a day of fun on the links for a best-ball golf scramble.

While some of the shots could easily be classified as entertaining, nobody will question the effort as the outing raised $5,011 for SJRMC's Sister Maura Brannick, CSC, Health Center, located on Chapin Street and Western Avenue in South Bend.

"I have to admit that on 18 holes, I lost 20 golf balls," said Brent Bohan, Construction Executive for Mortenson. "But to be able to be a part of this with so many others who were helping this great cause made it all worth it."

Bohan and Jennifer Medich of Mortenson presented Sister Maura Brannick with the check on August 27 at SJRMC's Management Forum.

"During such difficult times, for us to receive this for over $5,000 makes this check as good as gold," said Sister Maura Brannick. "Thank all of you wonderful people so very much and God Bless You!"

The new SJRMC will open on December 14, 2009.
