SJRMC to Donate Site for New Saint Joseph's High School

New School Will Be Built on Hospital Property South of Cedar Street

The Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, and Saint Joseph's High School (South Bend) announced today that SJRMC will donate its property currently occupied by its South Bend hospital to the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend for a new Saint Joseph's High School.

The hospital's property south of Cedar Street will be made available after SJRMC moves into its new facility on December 14 and clears its existing site.

"Education and healthcare are top priorities of our founders, the Sisters of the Holy Cross," said Nancy R. Hellyer, SJRMC CEO. "Donating our property for the new Saint Joseph's High School, is a perfect and fitting way for us to fulfill the Mission of the Sisters that has guided us for over 125 years in the community. This is truly an honor for us and a great day for the Diocese, Saint Joseph High School and the City of South Bend."

After SJRMC is completely moved from its current location to its new hospital, which will begin with the transfer of patients at 7 am on Monday, December 14, the hospital will begin removal of all salvageable interior materials followed by demolition of the building.
