Saint Joseph Receives Economic Impact Award

Saint Joseph received The Chamber of Commerce of St. Joseph County’s Economic Impact Award at the 2010 Salute to Business luncheon held February 11 at the Century Center in South Bend.

 

The Economic Impact Award recognizes a company’s strategic vision and its substantial capital investment in the area economy.

 

During the luncheon, Saint Joseph was recognized for:

  • Completing the project on time and on budget.
  • Awarding $163 million of the project to regional businesses.
  • Awarding $7 million in contracts to Minority Business Enterprises & Women Business Enterprises.
  • Employing hundreds of local workers – 600 during the peak of construction – who worked a total of 1.7 million hours to complete the project.
  • Following the Green Guide for Healthcare, a national self-certification program for health care construction, and recycling 75% of the construction waste.
  • Employing 1,800 at the now finished hospital.
