South Bend Campus

  • 1st floor Crossroads Café—located on the 1st floor behind the gift shop.
    • Hours: 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Closed Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
    • Vegetarian options: Cheese or veggie pizza, salad bar, some soups & some entrees (depending on menu cycle).
  • 3rd floor Cafeteria—located on the 3rd floor of the 1958 building.
    • Hours: 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
    • Vegetarian options: Salad bar, veggie burgers, some soups, some entrees (depending on menu cycle).
  • Room service for patients—This innovative dining program allows the patients to select meals from an expansive menu designed to make them feel as though they were eating at home or at a favorite restaurant. Once they have made their selections from the menu in their room, they call extension 6325 (MEAL) and we will deliver their tray within 45 minutes.
    • Patients can call anytime from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Patients’ family members can purchase a “guest meal” pass from the gift shop or either cafeteria and order a tray from the same menu selection to be delivered to the patient room. New fathers receive a free meal voucher compliments of nutrition services & mother baby.
    • Food allergies are something that nursing communicates to the nutrition services department via Clinstar and we follow those restrictions.
  • Patient satisfaction scores—We continually beat our goal in patient satisfaction. We are currently running in the 90th percentile for satisfaction.

Plymouth Campus

  • Cafeteria location: lower level.
  • Hours:
    • Breakfast: 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
    • Lunch: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    • Dinner: 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • After hours options: Vending court in lower level next to Café.
  • Patient food service: Spoken menu (currently not room service).
  • Food vouchers: Available from nursing or nutrition staff. Given as warrented.
  • Typical Café options: Salad bar, soup station, deli station, hot entrée line, Daily Wellness & You Option, and desserts.
  • Plan satisfaction 2005: 97% satisfied or somewhat satisfied.
  • Cafeteria satisfaction 2005: 94% satisfied or somewhat satisfied.
  • Food allergies: Relayed via computer system from clinical team. Adhered to by nutrition team.
  • Obstetrics: Mothers on “regular” unrestricted diets, have option of ordering foods from the cafeteria selections.

Mishawaka Campus

  • Cafeteria location: Basement of hospital, straight off the main elevators and make a right.
  • Hours of Café:
    • Breakfast: 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
    • Continental breakfast (honor system—no cashier available).
    • Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    • Dinner: 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • After hours: Vending machines in basements with snack/sandwich machine and drinks.
  • Café options: Soup, salad bar Monday through Thursday, carved meat, display cooking, vegetables, bread or roll, dessert.
  • Family vouchers: Nursing staff can give families chit cards which will charge the family meal to their department.
  • Room service: None.
  • Patient meal times:
    • Breakfast 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
    • Lunch 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
    • Dinner 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • No room service for families.
  • Vegetarian options for patients: Yes.
  • Kosher options: Yes, prepackaged Kosher meals.
  • Patient allergies: Allergic foods eliminated from menu/meals and preparation methods altered if needed to avoid allergen.
