Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac RehabilitationPhase II Cardiac Rehabilitation is a program that allows patients who have suffered heart attacks to ride exercise bikes or walk treadmills while connected to heart monitors.

By mixing regular physical exercise with risk factor modification, recovery is enhanced and the body is strengthened.

Cardiac Rehab offers:

  • Baseline & follow-up assessments
  • Strategies for reducing risk factors including: managing cholesterol levels, diabetes, blood pressure, exercise, stress, mood, & weight
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Smoking cessation counseling & referral
  • Stress management & coping skills training

People who have had angina, heart failure, heart attack, angioplasty, heart bypass, valve surgery or even a heart transplant will feel better and get stronger with cardiac rehab.

Cardiac Rehab nurses and exercise specialists will then design an individualized exercise program for each patient to assure optimal cardiac care. In most cases, patients with cardiovascular disease can safely exercise in Phase II Rehab as early as two to six weeks after a heart attack or heart surgery.
