Emergency Department

After-care instructions

When you’re ready to leave the Emergency Department, you’ll be given after-care instructions either in your treatment room or in the discharge room. These instructions will include your emergency physician’s name, the name of the doctor you should see for follow-up care, your diagnosis and specific recommendations about what you need to do.

It’s very important that you understand these instructions. If you don’t, please ask: Patients are responsible for their own care after they leave the Emergency Department. You should arrange for a follow-up appointment with your doctor as the instructions indicate.
