Our Services at South Bend
Emergency Department
Our emergency healthcare team
Professionals from all departments
of Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center make up our emergency healthcare
team. Included are:
- Emergency Department physicians. The
doctor who directs your care in our department is highly skilled in emergency
and urgent medical care and receives continual training to stay up to
date with the latest emergency treatment advances.
- Specially
trained nurses. Emergency Department nurses at Saint Joseph
Regional Medical Center are specially trained to evaluate and administer
nursing care quickly in any emergency. Their training includes, but
is not limited to, trauma nurse care course (TNCC) certification, advanced
cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS).
- Emergency
department technicians. Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center
offers state-of-the-art technology for emergency situations. The people
who handle this specialized equipment—our emergency room technicians
and paramedics—work
right alongside the doctors and nurses who care for you.
- Chaplains. Saint
Joseph Center for Spiritual Care offers the services of a clinically
trained, interdenominational chaplaincy staff. Chaplains are available
24 hours a day, every day, to provide more of the emotional and spiritual
support patients and their families often need in emergency situations.
Your nurse will be happy to call a chaplain for you.
- Residents. Saint Joseph
Regional Medical Center is a teaching hospital. Residents are doctors who
are training for medical and surgical specialties, and they may participate
in your treatment under the direction of the Emergency Department physician.
