Emergency Room
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center’s Mishawaka Campus recently renovated their emergency room. Visitors and patients now access the emergency department through a new entrance that leads to a more spacious and comfortable waiting room.
As part of the ER’s renovation, Mishawaka has added two more care rooms, raising its total ER rooms to seven. Each room also has more storage room for critical care supplies. Another noticeable improvement is the split between the registration center and the nurses’ station.
Once assigned to a room a patient will immediately notice considerably more privacy. Previously the ER rooms’ doorway consisted of a curtain to separate the patient from the hallway. Now, each room features a sliding glass door. Each room also has a television in an effort to help ease any wait time.
The new look has provided greater comfort and privacy for ER patients, while a new tracking system has enabled greater efficiency and organization for ER staff. The combination creates less waiting and a happier, more satisfied patient.
