What is the Genesis Birth Center?
At Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center—Mishawaka you are more than just a number. All our patients are treated as individuals with different needs and concerns. Even if you only need a glass of water, an extra pillow or have any questions about your discharge or billing, we want to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as we possibly can.

What to expect
Moms are admitted to one of the Genesis Birth Center’s labor and delivery birthing suites, tubs are available for hydrotherapy and all our postpartum recovery rooms are private, making it easy for both mom and dad to relax after delivery. Each room is equipped with a shower and a sofa that opens into a bed so dads can spend the night.
Your newborn can sleep at your side, or if you prefer, baby can sleep in our fully-equipped nursery. Wherever you are, at any time of day, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center’s state-of-the-art security system leaves you assured that your baby will be protected.
Welcoming each newborn
Our care and concern for you and your child continue even after you leave the hospital. Within a few days, one of our nurses will visit your home to be sure that things are running smoothly. And if breastfeeding isn’t going as well as you imagined, our lactation consultants are available both during your hospital stay and after you go home. We provide these special services because we want to take the anxiety out of childbirth so families can enjoy every wonderful moment.
