Our Services at Mishawaka
Wound Healing Center
Each year nearly 7 million people are affected by non-healing wounds. These wounds can result from burns, ulcers, bedsores or any untreated cut. Diabetics are more susceptible to these wounds, due to neuropathy, so proper foot care is essential.
The Wound Healing Center at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center—Mishawaka is staffed by a team of skilled professionals including doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists who specialize in advanced treatment methods.
Our location
The Wound Healing Center is the only wound treatment center within a 75 mile radius. The Wound Healing Center is located on the third floor of Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center—Mishawaka at 215 W. Fourth St.
Our exam rooms
The center has eight exam rooms and two recently installed hyperbaric chambers. The hyperbaric chambers are a big help in the treatment of nonhealing wounds. “The increased oxygen pressure in the wound can act as a trigger to the body,” said Carol Ann Royer, M.D. “This trigger helps defenses to kick-in and begin healing the wound internally, assisting the medical treatments for improved healing.” The hospital setting will also increase efficiencies within the center.
