Enterostomal Therapy
Enterostomal Therapy Services (ETS) provides ostomy care and teaching to persons undergoing ostomy surgery (colostomy, ileostomy, urostomy) at SJRMC—South Bend. These services are also provided to patients with ostomies admitted to OLOP from SJRMC—South Bend, Mishawaka, Plymouth and other hospitals in the area.
ETS also provides wound/incontinence consultationand management to inpatients at SJRMC—South Bend and OLOP. Services include:
- Ostomy education.
- Management of ostomy complications.
- Fitting of ostomy equipment.
- Assistance with discharge planning.
ETS provides the same services on an outpatient basis to persons with existing ostomies. Wound and incontinence services include wound assessments, establishment of treatment protocols, incontinence skin care protocols and follow-up evaluations of wound healing progress.
