Cutting edge treatment
Our board-certified physicians and licensed oncology team are qualified, experienced individuals in 3-D conformal radiation therapy and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). This cutting-edge treatment gives radiation therapist the ability to “sculpt” the contours of the tumor that spares the adjacent healthy tissue. Unlike the conventional methods, IMRT delivers more precise and accurate treatment with fewer side effects and a higher cure rate.
Our oncology team
The oncology team consists of an oncology nurse, radiation therapist, dosimetrist and physicist. The oncology nurse evaluates the patient while the patient receives oncology care. A radiation therapist administers the daily radiation treatment to the patients. The dosimetrist carefully derives a treatment plan that calculates the dose of the radiation delivered to the target area. The physicist verifies radiation safety and quality assurance for the radiation equipment and the oncology program.
Brachytherapy cancer treatment
Brachytherapy is a highly advanced cancer treatment, that uses radioactive seeds, or sources. These seeds, which are directly implanted or placed near the tumor, emit a high radiation dosage to the tumor while reducing the exposure to surrounding healthy tissues. This allows the treatment to be highly accurate and localized in the affected areas of tumors.
Our hours
The Radiation Center is open daily Monday through Friday 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. for inpatient and outpatient care and has 24-hour, on-call staff for emergency care.
Advanced and individualized treatments
The Radiation Oncology Centers of SJRMC offers some of the most advanced comprehensive radiation therapy programs that individualize each therapy treatment to each one of the cancer patients. With this type of program the care and compassion of the physicians and the professional oncology team, the patient can take comfort in knowing he or she is getting the best quality care.
