Our services at Plymouth
New Beginnings Birthplace
It’s become a tradition in Plymouth. Expectant mothers turn to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center for the expert care they and their families need. They know we’ll treat them with dignity and respect because we respect the miracle of new life growing within them.
Right here in Plymouth, you have access to one of the finest obstetrics facilities in Indiana: the New Beginnings Birthplace at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center—Plymouth. It’s a place where you, your baby and your family will receive warm, personal care with a small-town touch.
Care you can count on
Rest assured the same staff will care for you and your newborn throughout the postpartum period. We encourage mothers to keep their babies in their rooms with them as much as possible. Of course, if you need a daytime nap, a shower or a good night’s sleep, our Well Baby Nursery can take over for you and give you a break. We also understand how important it is to have your family with you. Husbands or birth partners are welcome to spend the night. Siblings, grandparents and friends are permitted liberal open visitation. Please note, however, that we cannot permit children under the age of 12, unless they’re siblings. Also, if you or your baby are experiencing complications, visiting hours may be restricted.
The New Beginnings Birthplace has an excellent reputation. Doctors in the Saint Joseph Physician Network deliver at New Beginnings, as do other local physicians. For your convenience, we have two obstetrician/gynecologists and a pediatrician on staff.
Neonatal intensive care...available when you need it
Sometimes newborns need a little extra care. Rest assured that if your baby has complications that require more advanced medical treatment, our trained team can transport your child to our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at SJRMC—South Bend.
Continuing care in your home
Even after you and your baby leave the New Beginnings Birthplace, we’re still standing by to help. Our own lactation consultant can assist you from birth throughout the entire breast-feeding period. What’s more, an obstetrics nurse will visit your home, if you like, to help make your adjustment to parenthood as smooth as possible. This is especially helpful for first-time mothers.
