Donor Support Funds the Latest Robotic Joint-Replacement Technology
March 31, 2026
In December, Saint Joseph Health System became the first hospital in the region to introduce the new Mako 4 technology for robotic-assisted joint-replacement surgery. In 2011, SJHS was the first in the area to introduce the original Mako robotic joint-replacement technology. This winter through the support of donor gifts to the Foundation of SJHS, we retired the original Mako unit and introduced its replacement.
From 2011 through 2025, Saint Joseph Health System has performed 1,248 total knee replacements, 341 partial knee replacements, and 100 total hip replacements using this technology.
The Foundation is proud to support this cutting-edge technology in our health system.
