The Foundation of Saint Joseph Health System is proud to announce a generous $10,000 donation from Comcast, aimed at enhancing the technology and entertainment options available to pediatric patients at Mishawaka Medical Center.

This contribution will help integrate smart TVs and gaming systems into pediatric hospital rooms, creating a more comforting and engaging environment for young patients. These upgrades are designed to reduce anxiety, offer distraction from pain and provide a sense of normalcy during hospital stays.

“These technologies empower children with a sense of control over their environment—contributing to a more positive and healing hospital experience,” said Lindsey J. Lawrence, BSN, RN, MSML, C-EFM, Nurse Manager of NICU and Pediatrics. “Thank you, Comcast, for your generous gift to our pediatric patients.”

Local leaders also expressed their appreciation for Comcast’s support.

“As a father of three, I know there is nothing more meaningful than seeing a child smile,” said Rep. Rudy Yakym. “I applaud Saint Joseph Health System for their dedication to compassionate, innovative care.”

This donation is part of Project UP, Comcast’s $1 billion initiative to advance digital equity and opportunity. Over the past three years, Comcast has contributed more than $3 million in cash and in-kind donations to nonprofits across Indiana.

“We are proud to partner with Saint Joseph Health System Foundation to enhance entertainment capabilities for pediatric patients,” said Grace Hong Duffin, Regional VP of external and government affairs for Comcast’s greater Chicago region.

Thank you to Comcast for helping us bring comfort, joy and healing to our youngest patients.
