Future health care engineers compete in robotics competition 2020
February 18, 2020Saint Joseph Health System (SJHS) and Granger Exploration and Robotics Studio (GEARS) have teamed up to grow the next generation of robotic health care engineers by hosting the 2020 SJHS Robotics Challenge for students in grades 4-8. The second challenge of this four-event series will be held at ETHOS Innovation Center in Elkhart on Saturday, Feb. 22. The event includes a robotics competition and learning opportunities with demonstrations of robotic surgical equipment and interactions with medical staff.
Winners of the series will earn the right to name the new Globus ExcelsiusGPS surgical system used at Mishawaka Medical Center. The winning team also will be invited to be “doctors” for the day at a special naming ceremony held in the Surgery Department later this summer.
Future competition dates include: March 28 at a location TBD in Plymouth, Indiana; April 25, Challenge Final, South Bend Makers Faire, Success Academy.
