Hometown robotics team names da Vinci robotic surgical system at Plymouth Medical Center
Earlier this year, Saint Joseph Health System (SJHS) hosted its Robotics Challenge for student teams in grades 4 - 8, hoping to inspire future healthcare engineers. Nineteen teams accepted the four-event challenge series.
In April, the Holy LEGOS of Queen of Peace School in Mishawaka, and the Creative Crusaders of St. Michael’s Catholic School in Plymouth, secured the top two spots. As a gesture of “gracious professionalism,” Holy LEGOS gifted the top prize of naming the da Vinci robot to the Creative Crusaders because it is located in their hometown.
On June 14, both teams are invited to an exclusive tour of Plymouth Medical Center OR guided by Dr. Brian Piazza and the surgical team. The name the students from the Creative Crusaders of St. Michael’s Catholic School will be unveiled during the tour at a special naming ceremony.
