Gynecology
The Gynecology rotation consists of one block with a Board Certified gynecologist during the third year of residency. Comprehensive clinical gynecology education is emphasized with direct application to the skills needed for a family physician. comprehensive, cost effective, and compassionate care of geriatric patients in the hospital, nursing home, and outpatient settings. Approximately 10% of the patients seen in the Family Medicine Center for ambulatory care are geriatric patients. The resident will follow the patient for up to three years and learn to provide quality care for acute and chronic medical problems as well as disease prevention and health maintenance.
Typical procedures include:
- Vaginal exam, pap smears, and wet mount preparation and interpretation
- Clinical Breast Exam
- Colposcopy
- Dilation and Curettage
- LEEP
- Cryotherapy
- Endometrial biopsy
- Long-acting Removable Contraceptive management
