For Medical Students
Saint Joseph Family Medicine Residency has a strong commitment to student education/teaching, which is exemplified through our close relationship with not only Indiana University School of Medicine, but also Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. Third year medical student clerkships are available through both institutions in Family Medicine in which students rotate with physicians in our Program, community preceptors in the Michiana area, or a combination of both. We also offer a Sub-Internship rotation to medical students from these institutions, as well as external students, during their late third and fourth year of training. Rotating medical students work with our faculty coordinator for medical students in devising a rotation tailored to the medical students’ goals and interests, which often involves a combination of inpatient and outpatient experiences in inpatient adult medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics, as well as outpatient care. Students will work closely with both residents and faculty of our Program and have the opportunity to gain insight into the field of Family Medicine and what it’s like to train in the place we call Home. Third- and fourth-year medical student rotations are currently available all year.
