For Prospective Residents
The Family Medicine Residency Program accepts applications for our program through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Please visit their site and follow the directions provided.

The Application Process
In order to be considered, a complete application file must be submitted. The following is a list of our application criteria:
- Must have graduated medical school within the past 5 years
- Passing score on USMLE or COMLEX (Steps 1 and 2)
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis (Our program does not sponsor visas)
The following materials are required for your application:
- ERAS application
- Three letters of recommendation
- Medical school transcripts
- Dean’s Letter
- Personal statement addressing Family Medicine as your choice of specialties and your interest in our program
- Explanations concerning any unsuccessfully completed medical school rotations or gaps/interruptions in education or employment
International Medical Graduates:
- ECFMG certification is required at the time your ERAS application is submitted
- Citizenship not required / Accepts: J-1 Visa, F-1 Visa / Not willing to Sponsor.
Following a review of all completed application documents, selected applicants will be notified by e-mail. Your application may be placed on hold if found incomplete. It will be reviewed once all information is received.
Please note: Documents containing Patient Health Information (PHI) must
be faxed to the Family Medicine Center Clinic at 574-330-0771.
Interview

For the 2024-2025 application cycle, the program will be hosting in-person interviews.
In-person Interviews: Prospective residents are taken out to dinner the night before their interview by a few of our residents. During the interview day, you will meet with the program director, faculty, and residents. You will also tour the FMC and our hospital with a resident member of the recruiting team before eating lunch with the residents. The in-person interview day will last approximately 5 hours and will be hosted on-site in Mishawaka, IN.
Accommodations
Hotel accommodations are provided and will be arranged by the Program Coordinator when an interview is scheduled.
